3:10 to Yuma
September 23, 2007 3:00 pmTheatrical Release Date: 9/7/07
Russell Crowe – Christian Bale
Rating: R for violence and some language.
Review – 7/10
Struggling to keep going with his life, rancher Dan Evans (Christian Bale) fails to make ends meet for his family. Life is rough, the railroad company is about to throw him off his land, and outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) doesn’t make his life any easier. Wade is captured and is to be taken to the prison in Yuma, the train will arrive at 3:10. Evans agrees to help escort him for $200. The outlaw’s gang makes the trip virtually unbearable with the ever-nagging doom that Wade’s men will kill mercilessly.
Any objectionable content?
It’s not too bad for an R-rated movie. Very little cussing, however, there is a lot of shoot. It is a Western after all. Ben Wade is a very gruesome man and kills for mere pleasure. There is one scene in which Wade is drawing the bare back and backside of a lady lying you see on the bed in front of him; however, the camera does not show any more of her.
Recommended?
Like western movies? Many people loved this movie; I thought it was worth watching but not that great. There are some great values displayed throughout the movie, especially between the father (Evans) and his son. To be honest, this movie doesn’t have much of a plot and I left the theatre disappointed. Yet, I didn’t feel it was a waste of time; I’ve just seen better movies.

The Bourne Ultimatum

Matt Damon
Rating: PG-13 for violence and intense sequences of action.
Review – 9.9/10
They’re after him and he’s back with more determination than ever. Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) meets up with reporter Simon Ross () who has crossed information regarding Operation BlackBriar, an upgrade to the Treadstone Project. Bourne is constantly being hit with memories of his past, the birth of who he is now, what he was forced into…
This movie is extremely face-paced; it left me sitting on the edge of my seat, heart racing, and tension building in my body. If you were to leave to get a refill on your popcorn, coming back in you’d find that an incredible amount happened in that short absence!
Any objectionable content?
None, unless there was a small bit of language! I don’t think there was much cussing in the film, and if there was, it was extremely mild. No sexual content, very little language, and lots of action. No worries about coming to see this movie unless you don’t like to see fighting.
Recommended?
Highly! This movie, in my opinion, is the best one of the year. The only drawback is the cinematography. Similar to the second, the camera action is constantly jerky. I must respect them for branching out from the same ol’ same ol’, however, it can be hard to watch for some. Other than that, the movie was clean, action pack, tense, fast, and very enjoyable to watch. If you liked the previous two, you will love this film!

Hairspray

John Travolta – Michelle Pfeiffer – Christopher Walken
Rating: PG language, some suggestive content and momentary teen smoking.
Review – 8/10
Ready to dance and sing? Tracy Turnbld (Nikki Blonsky) is turning it up to a new jig this summer! As a young, naïve girl, she desires to see change in her culture: integration. With big dreams for fame and a great desire to sing and dance, she makes new friends of more than one race.
Definitely a “feel good” movie; carried along by light hearted themes and energetic music, the film shows some of the issues that man faced during the sixties.
Any objectionable content?
The rating pretty much says it all… Though, I would have added “mild” prior to language. There is very little.
Recommended?
If you like musicals, yes! Otherwise, you probably won’t enjoy this. I love gospel music and Broadway-style singing, so this was perfect for me.

Daniel Radcliffe – Emma Watson – Rupert Grint
Rating: PG-13 for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images.
Review – 7/10
Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) is back at Hogwarts again. This time, he and his gang are faced with a very new challenge: the Ministry of Magic interfering at school. As Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is gaining power, they are virtually helpless unless someone will teach them how to fight, how to really fight…
As a fan of the book, I came out of the theatre after first watching it completely disappointed. While the movie was well made (and, by the way, I did come to enjoy it the third time), it isn’t like the book. However, the fifth of the series was the longest book, and no movie could match its greatness in two hours. David Yates (director) did a quality job in making the book into a movie. While some might complain to the lack of action, the book was itself had very little. The best actors were, by far, Professor Umbridge (Imelda
Any objectionable content?
Nope.
Recommended?
If you absolutely loved the book, you might have a hard time enjoying this movie. It wasn’t until the third time I fully enjoyed watching. However, if you’re just one who’s enjoyed the movies so far, this could be a good flick.

Megatron and his crew of Autobots come to earth to defend the human race against destruction.

The movie has some sexual humor and it’s something that most teen guys will find especially hilarious (I don’t want to say anything more to ruin it for you). There is cussing, but amidst all the action I hardly even noticed it.
Recommended?
Absolutely! I came out of this movie totally pumped! Of course, I was able to remember having one of the Autobots as a toy. This is a must see if you’re into action movies. If you don’t like action, well, quite simply this movie isn’t for you. The movie, I thought, had a stunning balance. I found myself laughing quite often, but it wasn’t over the top as many movies mistakenly do. There was a love story between Sam Wetwicky (Shia LaBeouf) and Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox) but wasn’t so much that it detracted from the action. As for the action sequences, they were incredible. This movie’s action was stunning, and it wastes no time getting to the meat of it either.

Review – 8/10
Pixar is at it again, and this time the story is about someone who’s obsessed with cooking. Young Remy (Patton Oswalt) is just dying to become a chef…except, the problem being he’s a rat. His family is quite happy to simply scavenge for food eating whatever garbage they find, however Remy is just the opposite. Remy becomes separated from his family after the entire pack has to run from its current home. He finds himself in

Shoot, this movie had nothing that I found to be objectionable. I mean, come on! It’s G!
Recommended?
Yes! If you enjoyed the previous Pixar movies, this is for you. I was, however, slightly disappointed. Pixar lost it’s amazing touch in this movie. I’m a huge fan of all the previous Pixar films but this one just wasn’t at the same level as the others. It’s a great movie for the entire family. While it’s not at Pixar’s usual par, I still recommend it.

Evan Almighty
10:11 amTheatrical Release Date: 6/22/07
Steve Carell – Morgan Freeman
Rating: PG for mild rude humor and some peril.
Review – 5/10
Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) has just made it into congress, his family has moved into a much nicer house, and Baxter is working for Congressman Long (John Goodman) to pass a bill. Evan’s slogan deals with changing the world. He asks God to help him with this…and God hears them. God (Morgan Freeman) comes to Evan and tells him to build an ark. With this, him and his family are brought closer together as they build the boat. Of course, now he’s become the laughing stock of the country. His position in congress is becoming worse as Long doesn’t care to support him anymore.
Any objectionable content?
There’s really not much content in this movie to worry about. They do use “oh my god” multiple times in the movie which detracts from the ideas of obeying God.
Recommended?
Eh, it was alright. Worth watching, but the slapstick humor was over the top at times. It’s not something I would recommend if you had a choice between this and another movie such as Fantastic Four.

Ioan Gruffud – Jessica Alba – Chris Evans – Michael Chiklis
Rating: PG for sequences of action violence, some mild language and innuendo.
Review – 6/10
Life is just great for the team Fantastic Four. Two of the members of the quartet are getting ready do have the “Wedding of the Century”: Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd) and Sue Storm (Jessica Alba). As their wedding is approaching, catastrophic events are happening all around the world. The cause of these events? The intergalactic being they call the Silver Surfer. Pitted against a being so powerful, the four must work to understand why the Surfer has come to their planet. It is learned that every planet he’s ever been to has been destroyed within eight days.
Any objectionable content?
There’s not much negative content in this movie. The language is something that I don’t even think I caught as for the innuendo, it’ll glaze over most kids heads (presumably it’s there for the parents taking their kids to see it).
Recommended?
It’s most definitely a kids movie. I thought it was worth watching, but wasn’t something I would watch again. Your kids will most likely enjoy it, and there’s enough action in it to keep every one paying attention for the majority of the movie.

They’re at it again!
Any objectionable content?
There’s a slight amount of cussing and some sensuality as Linus is seducing Abigail Sponder (Ellen Barkin) so he can steal some diamond necklaces.
Recommended?
If you liked the previous two, I recommend this movie. It’s far superior to twelve. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Review – 6/10
The movie starts off with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) wanting to rescue Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) who is dead. Traveling all the way to the end of the world, they find Jack and through his wit (and perhaps a lot of luck) they make it back to the land of the living. After Barbossa calls together the
Any objectionable content?
There’s quite a bit of violence in this. It is probably just about as far as a PG-13 movie can go without brinking to an R.
Recommended?
It’s an alright movie, nothing incredible. I did enjoy much more than the previous engagement and it was definitely worth watching. If you loved the previous two, I guarantee you’ll enjoy this. If you were skeptical of the second, I suggest giving it your time because you might thoroughly enjoy it.
